Navarre Beach Florida Fishing

Navarre Beach is an unincorporated community in Santa Rosa County Florida. It’s on Santa Rosa Island, a forty five mile long barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico. Immediately to its east is Navarre Beach State Park located at 8579 Gulf Blvd. Immediately to its west is a portion of the Gulf Islands National Seashore, and further west is Pensacola Beach. To the north, across Santa Rosa Sound on the mainland, is the community of Navarre, that’s where I live.

Visitors to Navarre Beach experience quiet, peaceful beautiful white sand beaches and emerald green waters of the Gulf of Mexico, plus the Navarre Sound. Water recreation is plentiful, enjoyable and includes swimming, surfing, boating and kayaking and of course fishing with Full Net Fishing Charters.

The newest addition is the re-opened Navarre Pier; no expense was spared when the plans came together for this project, the Navarre pier is the longest pier in Florida and the Gulf of Mexico. The original pier was damaged by hurricanes in 2004 and 2005. The new Pier is open for fishing and for walking seven days a week. Check out their website: www.navarrepier.com

After fun along the shores or in the water, visitors can enjoy a variety of special events that range from weekly Concerts in the Park (May - September) to Taste of Navarre (October) to Christmas in Navarre. The Panhandle Butterfly House is a neat place to visit with the kids. It’s located at 8543 Navarre Parkway. Visitors can take a guided tour of the native butterfly habitat to learn about different butterfly species and the ecosystem in Navarre and also visit the colorful flower gardens surrounding the property. Whenever you choose to visit, be assured you can find many ways to keep yourself busy or just to relax, rejuvenate and go fishing.

A lot of people don’t know that much of the 1978 film Jaws was filmed at Navarre Beach. Hotel scenes in the movie were filmed at the Navarre Beach Holiday Inn, a complex that Hurricane Ivan subsequently destroyed.

There's a boat ramp associated with the state park. It's a very nice set up with lots of parking and big floating docks for use when launching a boat. It's located at the end of the causeway (south end) on the west side. I can also pick-up guests on some of the private boat docks on Navarre sound side.
